So, I think I want to start having some kind of regular feature.  So far, the best idea I can come up with is to talk about the books, movies, TV shows, music, etc. that I have been indulging in each week or however often.  My interests vary, especially just depending on what mood I’m in.  I love to read, I love movies, and I love TV.  But the time I am able to commit to each and all of those things varies as well, so you really never know what it’s going to be from one week to the next.  And there’s a ton of stuff out there.  I always find myself wishing I had more free time to check out all of the stuff that I hear about that sounds interesting to me.  But unfortunately, there’s no way to tackle them all, so I’ll just try to feature some of the stuff I’ve been paying attention to this week.  So here we go!

Television

Big Love

I just started watching this one on HBO GO.  I remember hearing about it when it was on from a couple of people.  It’s an interesting story, about a polygamist in Utah with three wives and three houses.  The wives generally accept each other, but sometimes clash.  It’s interesting seeing how they all get along while trying to share a husband.

Movies

You know, I really can’t remember for sure the last movie I saw.  Ricky and I started watching Admission the other day, but we both fell asleep and ended up going to bed before we could finish it.  The movie was interesting, we were both just pretty tired.  It seems like my free time comes in shorter spurts lately, so I’m more apt to read a chapter in a book or catch a TV show rather than sit down long enough for an entire movie.  Plus, I keep finding myself with an increasingly short attention span…

Books

The Sandman

Ok, so this is actually a graphic novel.  If it’s not obvious, I’m on a Neil Gaiman kick right now.  I had never really read much of anything by him until I went to his signing a couple weeks ago, and now I’m hooked.  I read The Ocean at the End of the Lane and ended up deciding to pretty much find anything of his that I could and read it.  The Sandman graphic novel series is really highly acclaimed, so I decided to check it out.  I’m into book 2 out of 10, and so far it’s very interesting and I’m enjoying it.  I actually got a good deal on all 10 books, and I just got them in the mail today.  I’m pretty excited about reading them.

Stardust

Again, Neil Gaiman.  Trust me, you’re going to get sick of hearing about him.  I’m actually listening to this book on my iPhone while I drive to and from work each day.  I checked it out online from the local library.  I really love the ability to get both e-books and audio books from the library’s website for free.  I’ve definitely taken advantage of that since I got a library card here.

The Four Agreements

This book is one I’ve read before, multiple times.  I keep coming back to it because it’s so good, and the principles in it are worth reviewing.  I highly recommend checking it out if you get the chance.  There is actually kind of a series around this book, or at least by this author.  I haven’t finished the rest of the books in the series, but I’d like to if I make it through this one one more time.

I think that’s about it for this week.  I have some more ideas for my blog swirling around in my head recently, and one thing I’d like to add besides the media roundup is a way to connect with my readers more (assuming there are at least a handful of people reading this).  Please stop by my Facebook page if you have any ideas!
