About
So you want to know more about what this whole “girl vs planet” thing is, huh? Well, grab a cup of coffee (or a beer) and settle in!
Who am I?
My name is Sheryl, and I’m a blogger and very amateur photographer. I’m the “girl” in girl vs planet. The planet, obviously, is Earth. I’m not really battling it or anything, but in a way I am trying to conquer it, basically by experiencing as much as of the planet as I can while I’m on it. This definitely includes traveling, of course, but also other experiences as well. There’s a lot out there to do and see, even in your own backyard.
My Life
I grew up in the Midwest and lived there all my life up until moving to Arizona in 2012. The decision to move coincided with the timing of completing my MBA, so a few weeks after graduation we headed to the desert. My husband and I both have family there, and on top of that we loved the climate. Hot is better than snow, so off we went. The palm trees and mountains all around aren’t too bad either. Then in 2016, my husband got a new job in southwest Florida, so to the beach we headed. Then in 2019, he got a promotion to a new job at a different location… California! So here we are now in the Palm Springs area.
Traveling
We both love to travel, and our vacation time and money both get spent on visiting as many countries as we can afford. My passport stamps include Canada, Mexico, Nicaragua, Aruba, the Bahamas, England, Ireland, Scotland, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Russia, and China. I have also seen plenty of the US, including five Hawaiian islands and a cross-country train ride from Chicago to Seattle.
What I Do (Not Including My Real Job!)
I’m actually involved in quite a few things off and on. My guy and I both love craft beer and previously had a beer blog together. We are also both very into EDM and formerly blogged for an EDM website/production company, Relentless Beats, in addition to attending plenty of shows.
I also like attending events. When I say that, I mean all kinds of things, from just hanging out with a few close friends drinking beer, to film festivals and comic cons. On top of all these things, I love spending time at home just reading, watching TV and movies, and hanging out with my hubby and pup.
To sum it up, I like having all kinds of experiences. And I like writing about those experiences. So whether you’re into beer, books, or Beijing… I think there’s something here for everyone. Whether you just live vicariously through me or it encourages you to go out and have amazing experiences of your own, I hope you’ll enjoy what you find here. Cheers!
