I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve started a new blog. I know, I know… I need to actually write in them instead of creating new ones all the time. And I can’t even guarantee you this one will be different. Heck of a way to start out, right? Well, we’ll see. I started this one more for myself than anyone else, really, and maybe that was the problem. I started out thinking about yet again starting a travel blog, just because I love traveling and planning trips so much. And I was trying to come up with a name for it. I really like “Travel Geek”, which I’ve used before, but it’s actually just too common. I wasn’t the only “travel geek” out there, and I wanted it to be more unique. Anyway, my line of thinking morphed into “girl vs planet”. What does that mean and why did I pick it, you ask? Well, I’m a girl, obviously. And the “planet” part came from the traveling thing. I’m out to travel the world, conquer the planet (or at least see a lot of it) type of idea. And I kind of like it. I think of it as not just traveling, although that certainly is a part of it. But honestly, it just fits with life too. I mean, I’m not against the world, per se. It’s just that, well, life is an adventure, right? And sometimes it feels overwhelming. And even when it doesn’t, you still have to learn to deal with the little things that life (and the planet) through at you. So sometimes it just feels like it’s me against the world. The earth. The planet. Get it?
I thought maybe a good excuse to use in starting a new website/blog is that I just recently had a pretty big life-changing event in my life. I’ve lived all my life in Indiana, and I moved a couple of months ago with my boyfriend to Arizona. Holy cow. New climate, new location, new things to see and experience, new friends to make… just a whole bunch of new things to take on. A new road, one that you can see symbolized in the photo on this post. I took it when I was in Arizona in November looking for a new place to move into. It’s kind of “the road ahead” for me. I mean, I’m basically starting fresh, so why not start fresh with my blog too? So here I am. A girl. A planet. And a whole new bunch of adventures. And guess what? You get to read about them! So… here we go!
Life is a series of experiences. Some of mine include walking along the Great Wall of China, drinking craft beer in Belgium, playing poker in Vegas, reading novels at home, or just relaxing with my husband and lovable dog.
